Our History

Cornerstone Church was founded on 15 September 2013 as Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. The Rev Dr Paul Ferguson delivered the inaugural sermon “Our Chief Corner Stone” (Ephesians 2:20b) with 91 persons attending.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.” (Ephesians 2:19-20)

On 21 September 2013, the Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) held its first meeting at the Home of Elder & Mrs Boaz Boon. On 20 October 2013, the Mandarin Service of Living Fountain Christian Church was inaugurated. Preacher Kelvin Wong delivered the inaugural sermon 《基督耶稣为教会的房角石》 with 37 persons attending. The Rev Dr Paul Ferguson conducted the Lord’s Supper.

On 26 October 2013, we had our first church outing as we embarked on a one-day trip to Johor Bahru.

On 25 December 2013, the first Christmas and baptismal service was held. 5 adults and 1 infant were baptised. Attendance was 149.

On 31 December 2013, the Registry of Societies (ROS) approved our registration as “Cornerstone Church” (UEN: T13SS0224B) as the Lord crowned the year with His goodness (Psalm 65:11).

On 16 February 2014 more than 80 new members were received in at the Lord’s Table.

Reviewing the past blessings of God for a church is always spiritually profitable. The Lord has blessed us in many ways. The work of God has been blessed with the strengthening of the saints, the salvation of sinners, the establishment of new ministries, and the material needs of the work here have been met.

Cornerstone has continued to grow with souls being added to the church regularly in the preceding months. We thank God for His blessings.

The Psalmist cried, “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.” (Psalm 43:3) The desire to spread the good news of the Gospel is a Scriptural one. It should be central to the ministry of every church.

We look forward to God doing a great work for His glory in our midst, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)
